Hailstar padded through the lava field, not even attempting to catch the prey that seemed to be all over the section of land. She looked around, her blue eyes searching for someone, anyone, to talk to. But there was no one around. She sighed and continued to walk, her muscles rippling beneath her medium length grey pelt. After walking around for a few minutes, she got bored and finally decided to hunt. The prey that was around her was moving so slow, that they were practically begging her to hunt.
She opened her mouth to scent the air, revealing her milky white, sharp teeth. She scented a whole warren of young rabbits, not too far away. She padded toward the scent, her paws not making any noise against the ground. As she got closer, she realized that there were about five young rabbits in a burrow, and the mother. I'll kill the mother first, then get the young ones. They're so young that they should be no problem. Hailstar licked her lips, thinking of how good the young rabbits would taste. She stopped moving and crouched down when the mother rabbit emerged from the burrow. The rabbit hopped closer to her hiding place, stopping to nibble on shoots of grass as she went. Finally, the rabbit was close enough for Hailstar to reach. The she-cat pounced, and sunk her teeth into the rabbit's neck. It struggled for a few seconds, but soon went limp.
Hailstar put the body down and padded slowly over to the burrow. She realized the entrance hole would be too small for her to fit in. She began to dig around the hole to make it larger. The young rabbits inside began to panic upon hearing the dirt at the entrance beginning to cave in. After a few seconds of digging, the hole was large enough for Hailstar to reach the rabbits inside. She quickly killed all the young rabbits.
Soon after, their bodies lay in a pile with their mother's. Hailstar heard another cat approaching, and looked around. If its another cat from my clan they can help me carry this prey back. She thought, continuing to look around.
